Bio

The mixed media and performative works by artist duo J&K / Janne Schäfer and Kristine Agergaard explore the creative potential underlying the modelling of realities and problematizes concepts such as truth production, historiography, nature-culture and self-identity. Their recent performative, often site-specific and participatory works are focusing on intelligence of matter and re-negotiations between performer, audience, object and stage.

Together with Kattegat we are creating a Hav-Ønsker ritual on board Svartlöga/Oxer. We will meet and collect different water friends in the harbour; sense, explore and listen to their stories. We will work with imbuing waters with intentions and oxygen, brew a magical elixir and perform a collective and liquid choreography as an offering for Kattegat.

The event is part of the art-pedagogic project Vandvenner, which J&K is realising as part of Hosting Lands. Vandvenner took place at Kirsten Kjærs Museum in the autumn 2023, and at Kunsthal 44Møen in the spring 2024 and has now landed on on the ship Svartlöga. Vandvenner is developing didactic tools with and for children with focus on communication and collaboration with diverse water bodies. Vandvenner is also directly informing the development of Unshore, a site-specific performance work by J&K for Hosting Lands.

The ship Svartlöga hosts their monthly Friday cafe on the same day as this event. IThis makes it the perfect day to visit the ship, the whole family! The Friday café is from 14 -18. There is the opportunity to buy beer, coffee, cake and ice cream, and not least the opportunity to see the ship and meet the people who run the project.

Vandvenner is supported by Statens Kunstfond and Kattegatcentret.
