Bio

PDAS (På Den Anden Side - On The Other Side) is an artist collective based on a former farm on the Island of Møn. Here, Hosting Lands will purchase 1,3 hectare conventional farm land and in collaboration with PDAS other artists and local communities turn it into a commons. This process investigates and questions the legal, social and aesthetic structures of commoning and politics of reversing host-guest relationships.s

What a beautiful gathering of saplings and stories when PDAS, Hosting Lands and Kulturo came together at Fanefjord Fælled Nov. 16th, 2024. All in a desire to collectively labor for, and take care of the land. And to joyously share food and stories of habitation, and commoning amidst it.

We had the honor of hosting Kulturo (a student-led culture and literary journal) at Fanefjord Fælled. Kulturo editorial board had chosen the theme 'habitation' for this edition and asked us if they could celebrate the release day on the commons with us. We were honored to say yes, and so we joined forces on sharing our energies, knowledges, labour and time - together with our local collaborators, the artist collective PDAS, around the programme.

Kulturo arranged a bus from/back to Copenhagen and they invited some of the journal's poets and artists to read from their contributions, PDAS arranged a tree planting action - 300 trees to be planted before the frost would arrive - and Hosting Lands contributed with food and a performance by poet Sabitha Söderholm, who is Møn based and a collaborator of Hosting Lands.

Kulturo themselves writes:

"The purpose was to gather and create relations. To expand the position of the host and unfold the subject of habitation in collectivity. We helped PDAS with tree planting, listened to beautiful readings, and experienced a magical performance by Sabitha Söderholm and Albert Scherfig, and enjoyed rich food made by artist and chef Søren Aagaard. The day ended in a collective writing exercise, facilitated by us."

Thank you to Frederikke Brorholt-Petersen, Nanna Agnethe Jørgensen, Hannah Nielsen-Danø, Mads Refshauge Kjær, Sten Nygren, Silas Blume Smidt, Mai Kjeldsen og Henrik Pukerud for planning such an amazing day in the spirit of sharing and hosting together. Thank you to the poets and artists for the beautiful texts and readings; Frida Elisabeth Vitved Jeppesen, Dina, Askur Skaalum, Sif Lindblad og Zahna Siham Benamor. Gratitude to PDAS, Søren Aagaard and Sabitha Söderholm, and to everyone who came and shared their time and energies with us this day.
