We are pleased to announce the launch of land with(in)out, the second volume in the Indigenous Arctic Futurisms series, edited by Svetlana Romanova and Alyene Vinokurova of the sata taas collective, featuring contributions by Joan Kane Naviyuk, Jen Rose Smith, Chandre Szafran, Brian Adams, Tatyjaas Fillippova, Svetlana Romanova and Alyene Vinokurova. Book design by MOONI Studio.
This book charts the fluid, ever-shifting connections that cross the Bering Strait, portraying the waterway as a living conduit that links Indigenous territories on both continents. Through intertwined voices, texts, and visual works, it gathers personal reflections on belonging, movement, and kinship —mapping relations that persist beyond borders and echo across lands, waters, and time.
In solidarity with northern Indigenous communities facing climate emergencies, proceeds from land with(in)out will support two grassroots relief efforts — the Western Alaska Disaster Relief Fund, aiding storm-affected coastal regions, and community-led recovery in Oymyakon, Sakha Republic, where summer floods devastated local villages.
Supported by the Nordic Culture Fund and Hosting Lands.
